The genus Hydrophyllum comprises 8 species. This genus was previously included in the Hydrophyllaceae Family.

Edible Uses:

Native peoples and settlers cooked the young Waterleaf shoots and leaves which they collected before flowering. Some native tribes cooked the large and fleshy roots of Ballhead Waterleaf with the bulbs of yellow glacier lily. Waterleaf's foliage may also be eaten raw.
